When you buy any scooter from us you can be assured that I have personally unpacked your scooter charged it up and then taken it for a test run in the ocean, after washing it down I then inspect it, if it doesn’t pass ‘muster’ then back it goes to China.
When you come in to buy, I unpack it, and take you right through the unit from A-Z. I believe if you understand how they work, you can look after it and have many fun times, we certainly do as we use them ourselves and so do many of our friends.
Depth rating for a single person is under 30 metres (married? Is 10metres, ha ha).
Warranty by the Australian importer is 7 days, however, I warranty the scooters for 30 days. If within 30 days of you purchasing the scooter from me it fails, then I will exchange the unit for you. I don’t think I can be fairer than that.
The unit comes with recharger, and hand air pump and silicon button.
If your considering buying any ‘another’ brand of sea scooter, ask the person at the shop to answer some questions about the product and watch them squirm: eg Who does the warranty repairs (Name and Phone number?) eg What happens if it floods? eg Will you give me a full replacement if it breaks down during the warranty period? BTW what is the warranty period? How many Amps is the battery? Can I buy spare batteries? Can I get spare parts? I already know the answer for most of them, because I’ve already done the groundwork in person and over the phone (yes it’s a bit cheeky, but I love to watch them squirm). BUYER BEWARE!
Built around portability and performance the Scooter combines maneuverability and power with convenience. With a single speed of up to 4.5kph you save air, stay down longer and get more fun out of diving at a price that won't break the bank. I haven’t confirmed the 4.5kph yet, I suspect that it is fairly optimistic for a scuba diver, but probably achieveable for a small/medium built swimmer without scuba gear. Time will tell. I have tested these units down to 19 metres, OK for snorkellers not scuba divers.
They are not absolutely waterproof, against accidental flooding. Only the SEA-DOO® SEASCOOTER™ has circuitry to detect moisture inside. This doesn’t stop them flooding it just stops the motor running when it detects moisture. Which when you think about it, most people would just keep going along oblivious that the scooter was in trouble, by stopping it gets your attention quickly and you can now do something about it.
The circuitry also checks the battery voltage levels and when it gets down, stops the motor to prevent damaging the battery, pretty smart.
Now if your going for a long dive, say an hour or more, make sure you’ve charged the battery up the previous night, so you don’t have an anchor with you on the way home.
A spare battery will set you back $95. Not a lot of ‘moolah’.
On Wednesday Feb 1st 2006 I dived my own Aquasea Sea Scooter VS model on the SS TUGGERAH witnessed by the 6 divers on board the charter boat SEATAMER II, including David Pearson Sean Pringle Aaron Malouf, captain was Max Western. Now I had prepared the scooter for this dive ‘above and beyond’ normal, which was my risk, however I am satisfied with its performance.
I won’t be doing exactly the same for all other scooters as they weren’t designed for these pressures and people being people will push things |
