Drysuit Repairs & Alterations

Need a drysuit repair ?

We replace drysuit neck seals and wrist seals (latex or neoprene), zippers, boots and repair leaks. We are also able to replace latex seals with neoprene seals. We attach kevlar knee and elbow pads, kevlar bums and pockets. We are also able to attach Halcyon style pockets to neoprene suits.

We do not quote over the phone. There are too many variables so we have a strict policy of sighting the damage before we quote.

If you are a local, we are open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Please come to the bottom of the driveway (leave your car at the top unless you enjoy reversing!) Otherwise put the suit in a postbag and send it to our post office address: P.O. Box 2141, Taren Point NSW 2229. Include a return postbag if you wish, your details, and preferably a mobile contact number, details of the damage and if possible mark it with chalk. We will notify you by text message or phone when the job is complete.

Please ensure your suit is washed, dry inside and out, and free of sand. We cannot work on suits that are wet or dirty, and a $16.50 cleaning fee applies.

Please note: All items are at the owner's risk whilst on site and in transit.

Wetsuits and drysuits represent a considerable investment. Our repairs and alterations are professionally done and cost effective. Professional quality repairs that will last require the correct adhesives, specialist sewing machines adjusted to stitch rubber, UV resistant thread and considerable experience. Do not rely on the advice of your mate to use a well-known "flexible" sealer - it will ultimately damage your suit and make the problem much harder to fix.

Here are a few simple tips to extend the life of your suit:

  • Make sure it is completely on  before you do it up. Even if it is a self donning suit, get your buddy to do it up - that's what your buddy is for! A drysuit zip is extremely expensive. There is no reason why it should not last for many years with the right care. Do not store it in the boot of your car, or in a wet pile on the garage floor. Hang it up, by the waist.
  • Do not stand under the shower to wash it. Take it off and give it a good slosh around in a tub of water.
  • Use wetsuit wash. It is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and keeps the fabric and rubber soft. Bacteria breaks down the fabric.
  • Do not hang it on a hanger when it is wet - it is too heavy and puts enormous stress on the shoulder area. Hang it over a piece of water pipe or similar, from the waist, IN THE SHADE.
  • If you damage the suit, or a seam unravels, it is important that it is repaired before the fabric delaminates. It is much more difficult and therefore costly, to repair it once this happens.
  • If you have latex seals use only unscented talc or lube. If you need to trim the neck, do it one ring at a time and make sure there are no nicks. Nick = torn seal soon.
  • Make sure the suit is completely dry, inside and out, before you put it in a storage bag.
  • Do not drag on the end of the zipper. To remove the sleeve, get that trusty buddy to grip the sleeve on either side of the wrist, supporting the junction of the seal to the sleeve. DO not get him to pull, just hold. You pull your arm backwards out of the sleeve. This will look after the seal, the zipper and your wallet.
