Cameras & Housings

BUDGET CAMERA HOUSING - $880.

An inquiry from a scuba diver who had his expensive video camera housing flood and was told that there was nothing that could be done to fix it, I made a simple but extremely strong video housing out of American High Pressure (9000 PSI) Tube. These housings are rated to over 100 metres.

The housings are cylindrical with clear lens at front and back and are big enough to open the monitor screen internally to see what you are filming. There are 6 self locking stainless steel latches around the cylinder.

This is a no frills, generic housing that will fit a wide variety of cameras. You turn the camera on at the beginning of the dive and off at the end. No openings - no leaks. However I am presently looking at incorporating some manual controls. There are some interesting developments coming up that I will keep an eye on.

Fisheries and Marine Park Authorities Research departments love them - they have a large number of them, sitting in cages, recording what swims past.

MINI UNDERWATER HOUSINGS - $880.

This is a very small, robust housing, rated to 250metres.
Fits in your hand, attach to your BCD.

Dimensions are 244mm x 105mm External.

REMOTE CAMERA

Again, resulting from a customer request, I have made some remote underwater cameras for use in a variety of applications: marina work, surveillance, boat inspections, swim coaching, etc. The unit is not expensive, consisting of a camera mounted in a torch head with a clip on/off and bubble arm for adjustment to suit the angle desired, as well as an adjustable pole, and the output signal is a yellow RCA Video plug that plugs into an LCD monitor, camera, VCR, etc (your recording device must have AV IN).
